Hello! Labas!
My name is Rasa, I am a freelance children illustrator from Lithuania living in the Netherlands.
As far as I can remember, I have always loved to draw.
I remember that feeling as I sat in front of a new sketchbook, white paper and my breath is taken away … tingling feeling in my hands, holding a pencil …
It still feels the same when I draw, starting a new project or a new sketchbook. I am still fascinated by the opportunity to create.
I graduated from Vilnius University with a degree in economics. With moving to the Netherlands in 2011 I took a big step in changing my profession. Since then, I spend days with sketchbooks and pencils.
Since then I have published 4 books about the adventures of Teddy Bears, made book covers, participated in exhibitions, worked with magazines and private publishers.
I like to draw in sketchbooks. I have kind of love for them. You can find 1001 sketchbooks in my house and even then when I visit an art supply shop, often I come out with …. a new sketchbook. My sketchbook is my sand pit where all sorts of things happen.
Wherever I go, I always have my sketchbook and pencil case. Ideas and experiments from sketchbooks come to life in illustrating stories.
I like to draw by hand. I like that traditional materials are unpredictable.
I use mix-media every day when drawing: watercolor, gouache, ink, acrylic markers, crayons and pencils.
I’m open for collaborations. If you’re interested, please feel free to e-mail me: web@rasakaper.com

Thank you!
